Ok so, this is a semi-dire situation. The phone is in a place where there is no wifi, and there is a need to tether to a laptop. This is literally the only source of internet anywhere in the area. What I am wondering is where the state of rooting and republic wireless is at currently.
As I understand it, the bootloader is locked, which is annoying, but not an insurmountable issue. My main question is whether one rooting method works for all Moto Gs or is there a specific method for each carrier?
I am familiar with how freedompop works, and while I have managed before to use cm11 + an apn fix in order to use custom roms on it, from what I understand republic is different enough so that custom roms are kind of a non-starter. That's fine, I just need root in order to use a wireless tether.
Can the people here please point me to the current guides and materials? Unfortunately, after an hour of googling and spending 30 minutes looking through various xda threads, I'm not much further along than I was.
